I Dont Like Theives :( !!

Okay, had a bit of a melt down a few days ago - Liverpool was not kind to me at all! Especially thanks to a certain person in Pop world in Concert Square. One of the worst things that could possibly happen, happened to me! Some random person has actually stolen my phone in the middle of Pop world. All of my contacts, pictures for university, my life and notes has been stolen. The reason why I don't have that many of my own pictures on my blog is because I don't have them anymore.. The first few days I struggled to cope but I have begun to get used to it now. Even if I do miss it, it is going to cost me a lot of money to replace my phone which isn't fun at all. Depressing stuff.. :(

TURTLE DASH!

Remember the post I wrote about the lecture where we played a load of games for hours!? Well, this is the reason why, our aim for our this assignment was to come up with ideas in groups of 2 for our own games that we would be able to play within the liverpool screen school. Oh gosh I am pretty sure we delivered! This was where me and my group member Elicia Powell let our imaginations run wild (which isn't always good as we come up with the most random things) which is exactly why..TURTLE DASH WAS BORN!
- It is a Computer Game/ Mobile App/ Console Game
- There are 2 or more players that are needed in order to play this game
- A maximum of 20 players can be an individual turtle each
The game first starts where you are your own individual turtle that is newly born and attempting to find your way back to the ocean. However, in order to get there isn't so simple, as you are faced with a number of different obstacles and predators to escape from along the way.. These include:
- Jumping Over Rocks
- Crabs Kidnapping You ( The Turtle)
- Falling Over Rockpools
- Avoiding Dead Jellyfish In The Sand
- Racoons Chasing You
- Birds Chasing/Eating You
The aim of the game is to get at least 5 baby turtles to the ocean and survive safely so they can swim closer towards Paradise Island and make there way to the next level.

A poster was then created by Elicia using Photoshop to give viewers a clearer understanding of the game we created. If I do say so myself, I could not be more happier with the creation we had come up with! TURTLE DASH, over and out.

Screen Analysis - Forrest Gump!

Even though this does not count towards anything for my final grade, I was FAR TO HAPPY with the grade that I got for my Scene Analysis! - After creating just this one screen analysis, its mad how differently I have started watching films and noticing all the different camera angles, music, numbers of shots and the different meanings in them. I keep pointing things out now that others don't notice and keep asking constant questions aswell, must be annoying watching a film with me now as I keep getting told to be quiet. However, Forrest Gump is one of my all time favorites! This film will never ever get old and this is why I have decided to base my scene analysis on it. I decided to analyze the scene where Forrest is in the war in Vietnam and he is looking for his friend Bubba as they are attacked. This scene is very moving and always makes me emotional when Bubba dies. It really is incredible how this story has been told and the time it must have took to make it, Tom Hanks has done such an amazing job at playing Forrest Gump and really respect him. After my scene analysis had been graded, I found out that I managed to get a 2.1 on this which pleased me far too much! It has helped me to see media and films in a whole other way which I am very happy about.

Little Bit Late..

Now don't worry, I know what you are all thinking .. WHY have a lot of these posts suddenly appeared on the 16th January .. Well to tell you the truth, I haven't been the best blogger in the world and keeping up to date with this (my own fault for constantly house searching for second year and stressing over other projects) I do apologize! From now on I promise to keep my blog up to date as much as possible with all the interesting( most probably boring) things that happen within my life. As well as the lectures that I have attended at university! Now there's a promise written to everyone that I now have to prove I will keep! AND I WILL! :D

The Day Of Playing Like Children!!

During our Contemporary Media Issues lesson, we had the chance the chance to PLAY WITH TOYS!! Which when coming to university, I thought this would never ever happen. However, it did. We actually spent a whole lecture playing with Kerplunk, Cards, Xbox, Wii and many more... The group I stayed with during this lecture had a very intense/funny game of Kerplunk, which we gave up on after the first game, we then thought it would be funny to play a guessing game with sticky notes and a person is wrote on this sticky note, it is stuck to our heads and we have to guess who the person is stuck on our head, i know, sounds amazing right!? It was actually pretty funny.. I was attempting to guess "King Kong" which I epically failed at, and gave up. Five or Six of us played this game and because there was quite a few, the questions that were being asked were hilarious. This lecture was used so we could come up with our very own game for our next assignment, but it must be a game that can be played within the screen school. This should be one fun assignment...!

Lego Serious Play!

When I first heard about this lesson, I thought "what? a whole 3 hour lecture spent playing with lego?! how is this really going to help me?" but after actually attending the lecture, it was amazing how much I actually found out about my self and other people on my course. It helped me to understand better the different roles and individuals that you need to become a successful team. I discovered in this lecture that I am a listener in a team and understand and collaborate on what other team members are saying with there ideas. This was done through using Lego. For our first task in this lecture, we had to complete a random tower and we were not aloud to think about what we were making, we just had to make it. My tower turned out symmetrical which I can understand because I do like to be organized and keep everything tidy when I can. Lego Serious Play is a creative way to help the brain think easier and is a way to express yourself through playing and modelling. It is a brilliant technique for creative thinkers and definitely helped me to understand other people's way of thinking a lot more. After this task, we were then asked to build a tower explaining a skill that we felt we brought to a team ourselves. My tower was based on listening and understanding other people's point of views. My tower explains me a lot more then I thought it would and I would like to become more of a team leader in the future and be the person that people can look up to but in order to do that, one skill that you must have to do this is listening. Lego serious play was a lot of fun and I did enjoy myself and even though I did learn a lot about myself and others, I do still wonder why we would need this skill in the future and feel I need to explore more reasons behind why it is used around businesses. Although I did enjoy myself a lot, who couldn't playing with Lego for 3 hours?!

Special Objects..

My next Contemporary media issues lesson was based on bringing in a special object that meant something to us. I struggled to decide on one particular special object as I did have quite a few but I decided to go with my Oxegen Festival wristband. This object means a lot to me because it is a memory of my first ever festival which was one of the best times of my life. Not only was it my first festival but it was also my first trip to Ireland and I loved every minute of it. I had a lucky weekend because I managed to catch the sun whilst I was there and the artists that played were amazing. I am never going to forget that experience which is why I wanted to share it with the rest of the class.
During this lesson, we split into groups and discussed our special objects and why they were all so important to us and then within our groups, we all learnt how to use Prezi for the first time. This software was new to me and I had never heard of it before our lesson. I really enjoy using Prezi after discovering it and really think it is a fun way to present something that is interesting to you towards everybody else.

Dreams and Thoughts.

During the next 3 years on my course of Media Professional Studies, I would like to explore a wide range of different types and experiences of working within the media industry. I am hoping to gain knowledge from Freelance artist media all the way to learning what it is like to become a director. I have always been interested in the media industry ever since I was a young teenager and I would create my own homemade videos on the computer, learn the skills of editing using different software that was on my computer. I used to create videos of my favourite comedy television shows such as Friends and Full House. I would download various different clips from the shows and edit them around using movie maker to create my own videos. As well as this, I would also go out and explore with my video camera and capture different movie clips with my friends and edit them into a video once I had got home.

Carrying on from when I enjoyed making videos, my next favourite hobby became Photography, I enjoy exploring different places and capturing images that look interesting of nature and people. From then on I discovered pixilation animation, and I then decided to combine the two hobbies together and enjoyed creating films and videos using pixilation. I would like to bring these childhood hobbies forward into a future career within the media industry and creating films. I also enjoy the idea of becoming a new media artist and bringing my work onto my own website.

I am interested in the artistic type of media and using drawings, designs and photography to create something unrealistic but interesting to watch at the same time. I don't think I would like to have a career directing or producing, possibly something a lot more artistic and I can explore my own ideas and thoughts as freely as possible.
